7.10 PM – Choosing the Right Database: Exploring MySQL Alternatives for Modern Applications | Speaker – Bhanu Jamwal, Head Presales at PingCAP

  • About the topic: Choosing the right database technology is crucial for organizational growth. With MySQL 5.7’s end-of-life approaching, MySQL users should assess their options. Transitioning from MySQL to a distributed SQL database like TiDB can address challenges like scalability, high availability, and real-time analytics.
  • About the speaker: Bhanu Jamwal have spent 20+ years in the data landscape, he has been involved with different data workloads ranging from fast data, big data, data warehousing, data modeling and others. He has played different hats ranging from business analyst, IT Infrastructure lead, vendor management, project management, professional services manager, consulting. He has been associated with PingCAP for the last 2 years and helps to assist and support APAC customers.

7.40 PM – Hybrid and multi-cloud patterns for Kafka | Speaker – Kaijun Xu, Partner Customer Engineer at Google

  • About the topic: Modernising or migrating a legacy, monolithic application to the cloud and providing analytics for a transactional system in another cloud can be simplified using Kafka – we will discuss patterns and considerations when using Kafka in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • About the speaker: Kaijun is a partner customer engineer at Google Cloud, with a focus on technology ISV partners in data analytics. In this role, he focuses on creating, evangelizing and enabling joint solutions with Google’s ISV partners. Before Google, Kaijun was a solutions engineer at Confluent, working with users in financial services, telecommunications and the Singapore public sector.
